Job Overview
Finance specific: Assisting the delivery of accounting service for pension schemes including preparation of annual accounts, regular reports, budgets, forecasts, cost analysis.
Other: Assisting as required with management of pensions projects including preparation of presentations, tendering process for pensions services, IT related tasks such as development of accounting system. Willing to undertake role as pension scheme trustee.
Maintain an up to date technical knowledge of Accounting practice and procedures (particularly with regard to pension scheme accounts).
Completion of all Financial and Statutory reporting for the Pensions schemes within the appropriate regulatory framework and within the requirements/agreed service levels of stakeholders.
Calculation and payment of all Taxation (VAT, Corporation and other taxes) to the respective counterparties within the required timescales.
Preparation of financial budgets and forecasts for the Trustees.
Assist with Accounting systems development and maintenance as appropriate.
Ad-hoc project management will be a large part of the role.

Changes required in the adoption of reporting standards for pension scheme accounts (with Finance Manager);
Accounting software (with Finance Manager);
Prepare recommendations to management as a result of ad hoc projects;
The key challenges of the job for any job holder - the hardest part of it:
Meeting reporting deadlines for pension scheme & company accounts.
Meeting VAT & other taxation reporting deadlines.
Managing tendering process with various stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
Educated to Degree Level or equivalent with additional Professional finance/ accountancy qualifications.
Technical knowledge –Professionally qualified accountancy skills with proven experience of Financial accounting, Management reporting, budgeting and pension scheme accounting. Preferred experience of working in a pensions environment.
Broad understanding of Taxation issues and ability to undertake calculations.
The interpersonal skills and clear ability necessary to achieve credibility with and respect from third parties such as Trustees, Auditors & Government agencies.
Knowledge and understanding of Sun accounts. Significant experience of MS ExHighly numerate; able to undertake and check complex calculations.
High level of self motivation and ability to work well under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Communicates effectively and proactively both within the company and externally.
