Pensions Administrator (initial 6 month contract)   to £25k
 

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

 

To provide an efficient and professional service to employees in respect of all aspects of Pension scheme membership.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE:

  • To have a thorough understanding of all Internal Procedures to provide members with a comprehensive picture of their retirement options and using your knowledge of  Pensions Legislation and the Pension Fund’s Trust Deed & Rules to ensure scheme is compliant
  • To conduct one-to-one Pension Consultations to all levels of employees across the Society on a regular basis, or as requested by the member, providing the member with personal information in relation to their Fund benefits and providing quotations using varying assumptions.  Will have the ability and knowledge to discuss all areas of pensions, for example, Additional Voluntary Contributions, State Pensions and Death Benefits, and to explain these clearly to the member.
  • To administer all aspects in the event of a members death.  This includes liaising with the deceased’s family in a compassionate and caring manner, dealing with solicitors regarding the benefits due, manually calculating and checking the benefits due in accordance with the Trust Deed & Rules, and ensuring all benefits are paid accurately and within time-scale.
  • To be able to extract data and provide Management Information as requested, and to present this in a clear and concise way.  To be able to identify error’s within the system and to know when to report these to the software supplier, providing them with manual examples of the correct results expected.  To maintain accurate records of all members. 
  • To calculate manually retirement benefits for all members, for each of the 10 schemes administered by the Pensions Department, and to provide specific information relating to each scheme as requested by the member.
  • To provide a comprehensive administration service for members across all aspects of Pensions.  This includes, amongst other tasks, members wishing to transfer benefits either to or from the Fund, members given bad advice by personal pension providers and seeking reinstatement, employees wishing to join or withdraw from the Fund, all queries from members seeking clarification or guidance.  95% of all communications received to be answered within 3 working days of receipt.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS RELEVANT TO THE ROLE:

 

  • Progression of the Qualification of Pensions Administration (NVQ Level 4),  a recognised professional qualification and awarded by the Pensions Management Institute
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
  • In depth knowledge of Trust Deed & Rules and relevant pension legislation
  • Strong administration, analytical, interviewing and coaching skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pensions software system, Profund.
